Profile: The XROXY.COM web site is one of the biggest in the industry. It offers users access to the open proxy database, Xorum message board and CGI web proxy service. The owner wanted to add E-gold as a new payment option to the existing payment processing pages.

Scope: It was necessarry to automate user subscriptions handling using E-gold Shopping Cart Interface (SCI)

Details: XROXY.COM web site was initially build on powerful phpBB message board engine. Initially PayPal Website Paymens Standard was integrated into it and handled all the subscriptions by updating phpBB user table.

Since the checkout procedures was already automated it was easy to add E-gold as a payment option. E-gold does not currently support recurring payments so the only initial payment via E-gold was handled and user was added to the elite user group. One month later the system removed that user from the user group by the daily executed cron script.

On the other hand due to E-gold "no chargebacks" policy it was possible to simplify SCI processing removing unnecessary refund management code.
